Surfing at Crantock
We are lucky enough to be in Crantock, just two miles outside of the UK surf capital of Newquay. It’s a fantastic location to surf, with plenty of empty waves in a wide and sandy bay. Stand Up Paddle Boarding and River Kayaking are also great sports to try in the area, with The Gannel being the perfect waterway for all abilities. Check out our live surf webcam below.
The Bowgie Inn is located on West Pentire headland just a 15 minute drive from Newquay, and overlooks the stunning sands of Crantock Beach (voted Best Beach by Coast 2013 and in Britain’s Best Beaches in 2014 by the Sunday Times). With a National Trust car park right on the doorstep, the breathtaking River Gannel lies to the right and to the left, you can take the South West Coast Path to enjoy a stunning Cornish walk spotting an array of different wildlife, including seals if you’re particularly lucky! You’ll be amazed by Porthjoke (or Polly Joke) beach which is a secluded bay hidden away from the summer crowds, just a stroll away from The Bowgie.
