Everyone’s favourite pink pub is now home to an entirely Cornish selection of over 20 different varieties of mother’s ruin – all lovingly distilled and bottled around the county.
The rise in craft gin shows no sign of slowing down – we have ventured to the furthest reaches of Kernow to bring you back the most sought after concoctions; from Clotted Cream flavoured gin from the Wrecking Coast distillery based in enchanted Tintagel, to ‘Cornish Navy Seadog Gin’ from the hidden farming village St. Ervan, home to world-renowned Tarquin’s.
Whether you like your gin as a double over ice, in a cut crystal tumbler, or in a fish bowl glass, garnished with edible violet flowers and paired with refreshing Fever Tree tonic water – we have got you covered for those lazy Saturday afternoons spent sprawled in the beer garden or for your after work tipple. There are so many styles of gins around now; their flavours are all so unique and appeal to different people. From spicy to floral, peppery to citrus; we’re confident that Cornwall has a gin for everyone, and we will have your perfect bottle on our shelf. Pair your thirst quencher with a refreshing salad, alongside a hearty Sunday roast, with our incredible new menu addition – The Bowgie Brunch, or simply follow it with another G&T!
It’s very important for us to support local producers and suppliers – many of these distilleries are small, independent and family-owned businesses where every bottle is created by hand, labelled and signed by the distiller. We know you love the different stories that accompany each locally produced brand and bottle, and we feel very passionate about supporting local businesses, families and farms – Kernow bys vyken!
Here at The Bowgie we believe each gin embodies Cornish culture; The Lizard Peninsula’s Curio evokes sea spray and rolling waves with one sip and Frog’s Lip Gin from neighbouring Newquay personifies the up and coming culture of the ever changing seaside town.
With over 20 gin’s to choose from, including: Newquay’s Jynerva, Fowey River Gin, Trevethan Gin from Saltash, Caspyn from Penzance, Elemental from St Columb, St Ives Gin and Staffords from Lanliver, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice, struggling to choose and definitely a little tipsy!
