02 Nov November at The Bowgie: Autumn Adventures on the Coast

There’s something special about autumn in Crantock. The summer crowds have thinned, the surf swell is returning and the coastline takes on a different kind of beauty. It’s the time of year to pull on your walking boots, wrap up against the sea breeze and enjoy a little more of what’s right on your doorstep.
And after a day spent outdoors, there’s nothing quite like warming up with good food and a drink overlooking the sea!
An October to Remember
October brought plenty to celebrate here at The Bowgie. As the summer season began to wind down, the surf swell returned to the North Cornwall coast, bringing surfers back into the water and a familiar buzz to our local beaches.
We were also delighted to host the Crantock Surf Life Saving Club 40th Anniversary Gala here at The Bowgie – and what a brilliant way to celebrate 40 years of friendship, volunteering, community and lifesaving.
Even better, the evening is looking to have raised a magnificent £8,000 towards the club’s new clubhouse! A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, bought raffle tickets and helped make the night such a success. And of course, a massive shout-out to the Crantock SLSC team for all the hard work that went into bringing it together.
It’s what community is all about, and we’re so happy to have played a small part in celebrating such an important milestone for a club that means so much to our local area.
Get Out and Explore This Autumn
With the cooler months setting in, there’s no better time to get out and explore the coastline.
We’re sharing a new series of coastal walks over on our socials, highlighting some of the beautiful routes to enjoy around Crantock and the surrounding area. So, wrap up warm, take in the sea views and enjoy the coast at a quieter time of year. You might even catch a glimpse of the returning surf swell along the way! Keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook for the latest walks in the series and inspiration for your next coastal adventure.
Your Autumn Walk, With a Warm Welcome
Of course, one of the best things about a crisp autumn walk is having somewhere to stop afterwards.
Whether you’re ready for a hearty meal, meeting friends for a drink, or fancying a coffee and a slice of homemade cake, The Bowgie is a lovely place to settle in after a few hours outdoors.
And when the Cornish weather does what it does best, our indoor seating and pool tables offer a welcome place to escape the wind and rain for a while.
For those of us lucky enough to live nearby, autumn is a chance to slow down, rediscover familiar paths and enjoy Crantock without the summer rush. And, we’ll look forward to welcoming you back to The Bowgie this autumn.
