The winter solstice has passed, Christmas has come and gone, and we can finally start dreaming about sunny evenings, warmer weather and beach BBQ’s. The countdown to summer is officially on and there’s no where we’d rather be than Crantock! But in the meantime, the season of pub lunches, blossoming wild flowers and coastal stomps is upon us – and we couldn’t be happier to see Spring.
1. Lighter mornings and longer evenings
Spring means picturesque sunrises at breakfast and dog walks after work. JUST gone are the days of waking up and arriving home in the dark – the daylight hours are getting longer by the day and we can practically taste the late afternoon Pimms. Spring is on!
2. Long walks followed by Giant Hot Chocolates and Roasts
It’s coastal path season. The wildflowers are blooming, and trails are quiet and Sunday’s never looked so good! We are loving long, refreshing walks across the cliffs and beaches followed by a delicious hot chocolate to warm chilly fingers or a steaming hot roast, smothered in gravy and stacked with crispy Yorkshire puddings.
3. Spectacular Cornish sunsets
The clouds are lifting, the rain is easing and the skies are lighting up with every shade of pink possible. A Cornish sunset is unrivalled and they definitely mark the arrival of Spring. There’s nothing more awe-inspiring than a show-stopping sunset and no better way to end a day. Best enjoyed from our dreamy beer garden with a cold pint or liqueur coffee.
4. Gorgeous lambs at Polly Joke
Just a short walk from us is secret and secluded Polly Joke Beach. This little cove is a hidden gem of untouched sand and crystal clear sea. In the Spring, the bordering fields are packed with adorable lambs, playing and bouncing amongst the grass – is there anything cuter?!
5. Coffee catch-ups and lunch dates before silly season
Everyone knows that Summer in Cornwall is absolutely stunning, but have you paid a thought to Summer’s calmer, fresher, subtle little sister? Spring is the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends over frothy coffee and organise lunch dates before everyone’s diaries are jam packed and festival season has kicked off. Why not get your buddies together for yummy home-cooked quiche, followed by a freshly-ground latte overlooking stunning Crantock, before the crowds descend?
Obviously we’re excited for Summer – beach days and beer garden nights – but in the meantime, Spring is going to be stunning! Watch it arrive at The Bowgie, with your favourite people around you in the best pub location in the country (in our humble opinion!)
