There are lots of great days throughout the year…
Your birthday
Our birthday
Christmas (obviously!)
Bonfire night
Easter…
but our absolute favourite day is The Summer Solstice… which is today!
We believe it’s all to do with energy. You see, being Cornish folk we are in tune forces not fully understood by many mortals.
If you aren’t sure what we are going on about just think about how it feels when you watch the waves crash into the rocks and listen o the whispering rush of the tide as it laps the shore. its not just a noise. it’s something more than that.
Being at the tail end of the gulf stream we also get to enjoy more than our fair share of sunshine. As we feel the warmth of the rays on our cheeks and soak up the solar energy, you have to admit it feels good.
So it makes sense that our inner druid is awakened by the energy in the atmosphere as the sun sets on the year’s longest day. Yes something deep within us wants to build stone circles and map the zodiac whilst wearing garlands of flowers. but something stronger within us wants to sit overlooking the beach with a pint in our hand watching the sunlight slowly dim on the water.
Although at the Bowgie Inn we do our best to channel the energy of the universe all year round with great live music, festivals and events on Midsomer’s day we get more time to enjoy this energy. It might only be an extra minute of light but it’s a magical minute – and if you want to spend it here with our spectacular views over Crantock, you are more than welcome!
