First she trekked to Everest Base Camp…
Then she climbed to the top of Kilimanjaro…
and now she is trekking in the world’s most famous desert – the Sahara!
There certainly is no stopping our very own Sally…she’s prepared to do whatever it takes to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care.
The Bowgie Inn has been raising money for the charity for many years and we’re all very passionate about supporting such a worthwhile cause. We hold an annual Ale Festival and various events throughout the year and Sally takes part in her own personal expeditions to add to The Bowgie’s fundraising efforts.
Whilst the Sahara trek is shorter than her previous expeditions and Sally won’t have to deal with altitude sickness, she will have to endure blistering heat, sand storms and a fair amount of camel dung! But that’s not enough to put Sally off. The trek will take her over 50km of desert sand in Erg Chegaga, she will climb the highest sand dunes in the Moroccan Sahara in temperatures around 30 degrees Centigrade, she will camp overnight in Berber Bedouin Camps, experiencing amazing sunsets and campfires under Saharan night skies…. well, she is allowed to enjoy a little bit of it! Like when she discovered prayer flags on her trek route in Nepal and discovered a beautiful Himalayan river…
As she makes her way over the dunes, she will have just one thing on her mind – raising much needed funds for Cornwall Hospice Care.
The trek will take place from the 6th to the 10th October and Sally needs to raise £5,000. If you want to make a donation and help her reach that target, click the link below.
