Halloween is almost upon us and at The Bowgie Inn, Crantock, we love a costume. In recent years there has been a surge in creativity meaning we see more than just a witch an Herman Munster.
If you are struggling for inspiration we have made a list of our fave costumes that really made us chuckle. A link to the original source of each photo has been included – so just click the pic to find out more!
- Sexy Ghosts
If you have ever dressed as a ghost before, you will have found the sheet keeps falling off causing trips. It is as if it needs holding in place by something… queue bra and knickers… we present to you the sexy ghost! Less dangerous, more amusing (and not really that sexy!) Enjoy…
2. French kiss.
We love this. Two costume ideas combined as one genius rock pun. We congratulate whoever thought of this!
3. Grumpy Cat Meme.
Being original and current is difficult and trying to achieve these goals can make even the trendiest of costumer a bit grumpy. That’s why this grumpy cat meme costume is both ironic and brilliant. It’s both effortless and effortmore, it’s both clever and … you see what we mean
4. Devilled egg.
Another play on worse which seems to amuse us. Also, you have to have a devil at a Halloween party.
5. A cactus
This one caught our attention because we liked the idea that the wearer has spent several hours trying to make his spikey bits stick to his tracksuit. We liked that he had gone to a lot of effort and come up with a costume that is a little bit, well, rubbish. It’s redeemed because it’s so rubbish it is good.
6. The umbrella Bat.
If you are looking for new ways to make friends, this unisex costume is it! Just hope for rain so you can shelter your new mates under your wings. They will love you forever especially if their Halloween costume involves intricate makeup that is not waterproof.
7. Cat lady
Something you may or may not be aware of is that every lady you will ever meet secretly wants to become a cat lady (not cat woman in a shiny cat suit). She wants to have loads of furry friends who love her unconditionally. She wants constant companionship. So for anyone not sure if they want this as their future, try this costume for one night only and see! But don’t use real cats… that’s just asking for trouble; especially if you have an allergy.
8. A half and half costume.
Every Halloween party has a man in a dress or a woman dressed as spiderman or something… but a half and half costume is always a hit for anyone who doesn’t want to fully commit to cross dressing. It also requires much more effort which earns extra points from us.
9. A head in a box.
We love this head in a box. On every level this works. The upright fake torso, the spooky makeup…go on, recreate it and revel in the glory an excellent costume brings.
10. Artistic
If none of the above work for you then an arty costume like this one of a figure from a Magritte painting could work for you. It has the added benefit of allowing you to be condescending to anyone who asks you to explain your costume…just be sure you know who they are dressed up as before you roll your eyes or tut at their ignorance.
And there we have it!
