Around 250 tubs of petroleum jelly, 200 bottles of baby oil, 2000 plasters and 36000 adrenaline-pumped runners will be stood at the starting line of the London Marathon on the 26th April 2015.
All those hours choosing the perfect running shoe and the sportiest of sunglasses was for this very moment.
Raising money; a quarter of a billion pounds has been raised for charity by London Marathon runners in the last five years alone. This year we know runners who are tackling the 26.2 mile course to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care.
Cornwall Hospice Care is a charity close to our hearts and one we are keen to support whenever we can. Click the link to read about a patient at Cornwall Hospice Care and see why it’s such an important charity to support
it’s people like George that will keep tired feet pounding on towards the finish line. Some of those feet will be aiming to smash the record of 2:04:40 for men or 2:15:25 for women and some might just be aiming to complete the course within 24 hours.
So here at the Bowgie Inn we thought we would take the time to say thank you to all those dedicated fundraisers. We also thought we would point out that there are around 80 pubs on route, so although the Bowgie Inn, Crantock might be a little out of the way, there will be plenty of other potential re-fuelling stations should you require! However, we don’t condone beer-fuelled running. You may be surprised to learn that pubs sell non-alcoholic drinks too.
Anyway – back to the marathon runners – remember, pain is temporary, blisters aren’t permanent and chafing will only make you walk funny for a couple of days whereas the money you raise will help real people like George and his family for years to come.
