Humbug Day is on the 21st December and is designed to allow controlled venting about the holiday season.
Let us demonstrate:
I need to do some last minute shopping and I’m already near my credit card limit.
I arrived at the shops only to have a scary car park showdown with some guy over the last space.
I finally found the exact box of Lego that 6 other shops had sold out of, but then had to queue for an hour to pay.
I got home and realised I was about 3 inches short of paper to finish wrapping the last gift.
Unexpected guests have just rang the doorbell and you don’t have any food or drink in the fridge to offer them.
Your brother just asked if he could bring his annoying girlfriend along to Christmas dinner.
We could go on, but we are sure you get the picture.
Anyway, we feel everyone could benefit from embracing their inner Ebenezer and venting like they have never vented before. We think that talking about your frustrations and sharing your tales of Christmas chaos could help you move on. If left to fester, the stress of cooking for thousands of your family and the annoyance of having to spend all your hard earned cash on gifts no one needs is enough to destroy your Christmas spirit forever… and that would be tragic!!
So to prevent this we have a suggestion. On the 21st December, come along to The Bowgie Inn, Crantock with your mates, get a round in and sit down and share your woes. Pretty soon you will be laughing about wrestling that lady from the next village just so you could get the last turkey from the butchers. Then surely if the things that make you want to say ‘humbug’ ending up making you laugh, you won’t want to say ‘humbug’ anymore!
To summarise; embracing Humbug Day on the 21st of December will leave you to enjoy the 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th of December – totally Humbug Free!
