Eeeek!
It’s half term already? We’ve only just got back into the swing of things after Christmas. In fact, we’ve only just put that last box of Christmas decorations away in the loft…. how can the kids be off school again already??
If, like us, you are totally unprepared for this week with the little ones in your life, here are a few ideas to fill the days.
1. Head for the Beach.
Even if the weather is against you, this is still a fun thing to do…honest! Wrap up warm and explore the rock pools. Collect objects that have washed up on the shore and make a giant piece of art with them in the sand. Think a Neil Buckanan ‘Big Art Attack’. Crantock is the perfect beach for this because once you’ve finished, you can make your way up to The Bowgie on the Headland and enjoy a birdseye view of your masterpiece!
2. Go to a Museum.
Cornwall is the ideal location for art lovers and budding historians and this half term, there are all sorts of activities going on at our county’s galleries and museums. Some require booking, like the workshop at Penlee House Gallery and Museum for 7 to 13 year olds. They will be using the Surrealist technique of ‘decalcomania’ to make mysterious land and seascapes and it sounds fantastic! http://www.penleehouse.org.uk/whats-on/events
3. Go to a Castle.
What could be better for any knight or princess than exploring a real life castle? Let their imagination run wild as they run around the ruins! http://www.allaboutcornwall.com/Cornwall_Information/Castles_and_Historic_Buildings_Cornwall.php
4. Fly a Kite.
We have had some fantastically windy weather recently. Learn to love the gusts and discover how much kite flying really is! Drop in to The Bowgie and ask us for a few kite-flying tips – there are some perfect spots on the headland!
5. Walk the Coastal Path.
Get the family together and go out and about! The Bowgie is the perfect base camp for a variety of walks so click the link and see if any of our suggested routes take your fancy!
We will have colouring sheets for the kids and cartoons showing on our giant TVs so perfect whatever the weather!
There you have it, easy ways to have fun and make memories this half term. Enjoy it as before you know it, it’ll be the Easter Holidays!
