Who doesn’t love a beer garden?! As soon as the sun comes out, it’s usually the first thing on us Brits’ minds. You can almost hear the whole country say “pub?” at the same time. Luckily, here at The Bowgie Inn, we believe we have the county’s ultimate beer garden. We know, we know, that’s what everyone says! But at least hear us out…
The View
Having Britain’s (yes, all of it!) best view right on our doorstep is something we never take for granted. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Crantock Beach and its dramatic surrounding headlands, our panoramic view makes us smile every time we step outside. With a horizon that stretches for miles, you can see the minute detail of individual surfers catching waves against the grand backdrop of the village itself. A Crantock sunset is a must-see for any trip to the South West, as the light catches the water at the perfect angle and warms the entire cliffside – it’s the perfect way to end the day.
The Weather
When it comes to the weather, here in Cornwall we only do extremes. With sunshine to rival any top overseas destination, or storms straight out of Hollywood films, there’s simply no in-between. Needless to say, the Atlantic provides the freshest air in the UK, making our garden the sharpest way to wake yourself up in the morning, as well as the prime location to relax in after a long day at work. So, whether you’re soaking up some rays with an ice cream in hand, or watching in awe as the waves crash against the rocks from the warmth of our terrace, you’re guaranteed to be in Cornwall’s most picturesque spot.
The Drinks
It’s a well known fact that a beer garden is only as good as the drinks you can enjoy in it. Thankfully, we’re more than well equipped at The Bowgie! There’s something to accompany every meal on our rustic pub grub menu, but we always try to fully embrace our Cornish roots. Be it with a range of locally pressed cider, perfectly suited to outdoor conditions, or cooling down with one of our award winning local gins and plenty of ice – you’re sure to get a real taste of the South West. We’re also proudly Cask Marque Certified, with a selection of the finest Cornish cask ales which includes bitters, pale ales and stouts; even the biggest real ale enthusiast will be satisfied with what we have to offer!
The Atmosphere
We love a celebration, often looking for any reason to spend an evening in our garden. You don’t need an excuse to come and relax in the beer garden and listen to the waves and enjoy the sunshine, the sea-breeze and soak up the atmosphere!
The People
Working as part of Team Bowgie is just as fun as visiting! It’s impossible to not be in a great mood coming into the garden, although we are a little jealous when serving our meals! However, we’re nothing without our visitors. We love getting to know those who live locally, or hearing stories from those further afield. If you need any recommendations, we’re experts in both things to do and what to drink – although we struggle to think of many things better than what lies just outside our doors! Join us from 11 to 11 daily and become part of the Bowgie family. We also serve food ALL DAY throughout the school holidays – non-stop pub grub = perfection!
