Autumn… and relax. The kids are back to school, the sunsets are an explosion of golden pink, the winter swells are slowly arriving and silly season is over. Think quieter beaches, magical misty mornings and balmy evening pints. What better place to welcome in the best season of the year than The Bowgie – where beer’s ALWAYS flowing and sea meets sky.
1. The water’s as warm as it gets
Whether you’re jumping in for a surf, heading out for an early morning swim before work or paddling in the rock pools – you’ll be in a summer wetsuit, or ditching neoprene all together! The sea in September is as warm as it gets, after being gently heated by the sun throughout the summer months. Grab your speedos and your snorkel and take the plunge!
2. The spectacular sunsets
The Bowgie’s beer garden hosts absolutely unrivalled evening views – sunsets in Autumn are a stunning spectacle to behold and there’s no better place to enjoy them! From crimson and rose to gold and bronze, the sky becomes a palette of glowing colours and whispy, shadowy clouds. And the best part is, they can be enjoyed over an evening pint and you can still have an early night! The days will start drawing to a close from about 7.30pm as we welcome in September, so the gorgeous colours will light up your dinner and be the backdrop to early evening drinks with your friends and family, cheers to that!
3. Cornwall’s calmer
Cornwall may possibly be the best place in the world, however it can be renowned for its winter hibernation. Don’t panic, Autumn is still thriving with local festivals, surf competitions and plenty of live music – Cornwall isn’t snoozing yet! With less traffic on the roads, it’s easier to visit all the local attractions without having to queue or worry about finding a parking space – and our car park is MASSIVE anyway, so you don’t need to stress!
4. Enjoying quieter beaches
We are lucky enough to call the beach our back garden here at The Bowgie. There’s something special about your footprints being the only tracks in the sand… early morning dog walks, mid-week sun bathing and evening surfs at quiet (or even empty!) beaches are precious moments there to be savoured. They are such a stark contrast from the buzzing, colourful scenes of summer, but are just as enjoyable in an entirely different way. Empty waves, cliff top rambles and time to read your favourite book in the sand dunes – the epitome of Cornish happiness!
5. Finally having relaxing weekends!
Summer in Cornwall is all go, go, go – there’s an endless stream of festivals, parties, after-work pints, family gatherings and special occasions to attend and most people’s diaries are totally stacked. September is when everything slows down, the pubs, bars and cafes quieten down and you can finally take back your weekends. Take time for yourself and enjoy a pint with friends, a leisurely brunch, a Sunday roast or a few late afternoon gins – and where else than with us? Pop down for mouth-watering meals, local ales and incredible views, and welcome in Autumn the right way!
