Christmas is brilliant but we do over complicate it don’t we? If we had a pound for every time we heard someone at this time of year say ‘Oh I’m so Stressed’ we would have quite a lot of pounds be now.
So… to alleviate the stress we have found 10 super hacks that will make your Christmas easier. Take a look at our list of time saving and stress busting Christmas ideas below and hopefully you will all feel so mellow by the end of this post, you will be wearing flares with flowers in your hair.
1. Loo Roll Wrapping Paper Holders
We all know that one style of wrapping paper is certainly NOT suitable for all of your gift recipients. If only!!! One is for ladies, one is for gentleman and one is for children. You may also have a luxe version for special people and a budget version for the not-so important recipients. That’s at least 3 rolls and at most 9! Rolls of wrapping paper seem to have the magic ability to unravel all by themselves. Meaning you have to cut off a crumpled foot of torn paper before you can begin wrapping a gift. You have been sitting next to the solution to this problem all along. Well, maybe not ALL along, but at least two or three times a day. The humble toilet roll tube makes the perfect wrapping paper holder and makes wrapping paper storage far less stressful.
2. Ornament Storage
Every year you wrap those delicate ornaments in newspaper, tissue, bubble wrap etc… but every year there are always casualties. Maybe an angel loses its trumpet, maybe a reindeer is missing an antler and although you may tell yourself that no one will notice, it hurts. You spend years compiling the perfect collection of ornaments so you don’t want them missing more and more limbs or adornments year on year. It doesn’t have to be that way. Egg boxes are the solution. They save the trauma of discovering a broken snowman and make putting things away much easier.
3. Photographic Gift Tags
You can never find a pen and you always run out of the matching gift tags (WHY DO THEY NEVER GIVE YOU ENOUGH??)
So solve this problem by printing photographs of recipients instead. It makes you look super organised and thoughtful even though it was actually easier than gift tags.
4. Box Bin
The kids shred the wrapping paper on their gifts in seconds and leave the living room looking like a post apocalyptic disaster zone. This does not leave you with Instagram friendly photographs. None of your social media friends will be impressed by your scruffy christmas scene. The solution is simple. Wrap a box in festive paper and use it as a bin. It will blend into the scene of your photographs perfectly making you look like one of those families who never make a mess or spill dinner on their jumpers.
5. Melted Chocolate
So you have watched all the Christmas specials and have been inspired to decorate cookies, dip fruit and drizzle cakes with chocolatey loveliness. You tried melting the decorating chocolate in the microwave… but you burned it and made it go all bitty. You melted some on the hob but forgot about it so by the time you came to use it, it had set solid again… SOOOOO melting the chocolate in a slow cooker is the perfect solution!
6. Bedsheet Folding
You have guests coming and need to change the bed… they offer to do it for you and before you can stop them they open your cupboard and scream at the tangled mess of crumple that greets them. You may have mastered a perfect folding technique for duvet covers but fitted sheets still allude you. Follow these simple instructions and stand back proudly as your guests open your cupboards.
7. Use a Tin Opener on Packaging
Don’t get us started on the excessive packaging that retailers use these days. Opening the kids toys can lead to tears, broken finger nails, snapped scissors and personal injury. Avoid the stress of opening gifts in vacuum packed plastics with a can opener!
8. Bread Clips on Tape
We haven’t ever met a person who doesn’t lose the end of the sticky tape. We seem to have accepted it as a fact of life. IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THAT WAY as this photograph proves.
9. Avoid Christmas Candle Issues
You have spent a fortune on scented candles but as they burn lower into their jar, lighting the wick becomes more problematic. You could buy those long matches. Or you could light the end of a spaghetti strand and use that. Simple.
10. Chocolate Wreaths
We all end up with at least two tubs of these miniature chocolates then we forget to offer them round to guests which means come 31st of December we are all stuffing them into our faces to make sure they are eaten before we start out diet on January the 1st. Avoid the last minute gorging with this simple idea!
There you have it! Have an easy stress free Christmas everyone!!!!
