About Us
‘Bowgie’ Inn, which is Cornish for ‘cowshed’, is one of Cornwall’s most well-known and beloved pubs. Perched on the West Pentire Headland, Bowgie has one of the best beer gardens in the UK, overlooking the vast golden sands of Crantock Beach. A close neighbour to the popular surfing destination of Newquay, Bowgie serves locally sourced, home cooked food, barista coffees and a wide range of local Cornish drinks. Our opening times change with the seasons, please check our FAQ page for current timings.
Andy Pickles has proudly owned the pub for 50 years; back in the 1970s, he used to grow potatoes in the field on the cliff edge to make the pub chips! Bowgie Inn now boasts a refurbished interior, a beautiful terrace and lower beer garden, as well as a games room, booth seating and of course, the famous panoramic views of Crantock Beach.
Whether you want to warm up with a coffee after a bracing walk, catch some rays on our sun terrace with a glass of wine, refuel with some traditional home-cooked food or try a delicious Cornish gin from our huge selection – you will always be guaranteed a friendly welcome from owners Andy, Sally and Tish, and manager James.
We might be biased, but Bowgie really is in the best location. Overlooking beautiful Crantock Beach, the stunning Gannel estuary and both the Pentire and West Pentire headlands. With the South West Coast Path running right past the doorstep – Bowgie Inn makes the perfect start, mid or end point to your Cornish adventures.
We can’t wait to see you soon!
Love from the Bowgie Team
